Youth aging out of foster care face some of the most significant challenges of any population navigating early adulthood. At 18, they are often on their own, without the family support systems, financial safety nets, or guidance that most young people rely on as they figure out who they are and where they're headed. Career clarity isn't a luxury for them. It's survival. Yet it's one of the resources they're least likely to have access to.
This is my small way of changing that.

A little about me and how VP Career Exploration began.
With years of diverse professional experience and a true passion for teaching, I've dedicated myself to helping others navigate their career journeys. Since earning my Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation in 2008, I've loved working in career counseling — and in 2020, began teaching as an Adjunct Professor in the College Success Department at Johnson County Community College.
I'm often asked, "What do you do for work?" When I share what I do, people frequently say they wish they'd had someone like me to guide them earlier. Many ask, "Could you help me — or someone I know?"
That question is exactly why I created VP Career Exploration. It's honestly surprising how many people feel lost when it comes to career guidance, even with so many resources available. I built this to change that.
My mission is simple: make career exploration accessible, affordable, and straightforward for everyone — at every stage of life.
